My name is John Johnsson, and I am Conservative Councillor for Preston with Preston Grange Ward in North Tyneside. I am also the Deputy Group Leader of North Tyneside Conservatives.
North Tyneside is a borough in the metropolitan county of Tyne and Wear, England. It forms part of the greater Tyneside conurbation. North Tyneside Council is headquartered at Cobalt Park, Wallsend.
My role as a councillor is to:
- Represent Preston and Preston Grange ward on the council (I was elected through the “first past the post system” in which the candidate that receives the most votes wins)
- Serve as a representative of the residents in our ward and serve as the communication link between Council and the communities in our ward.
- Make sure that concerns related to the ward are represented on Council.
- Know and attend to the needs of the residents and communities in Preston with Preston Grange.
- Speak and vote on behalf of the residents I represent.
- Contribute to the governance of the Council by taking part in various committees and decision-making bodies.
- Monitor the performance of the borough.
I currently sit on the following committees:
- Family Friendly
- Green
- Licensing
- Full Council
I believe in values of One Nation Conservatism and a society founded on freedom, individual responsibility, and community.
I am a member of TRG (Tory Reform Group) and the Conservative Councillors Association
